Pergolas

LPG Screen Enclosure builds custom pergolas that frame and shade your outdoor living area, for homes across our Florida service area from the Florida Keys to Orlando. We design each pergola to complement your home and landscape, working at your property as a mobile service-area business with no public showroom. Tell us about the space you have in mind and we'll put together a custom estimate.

What a pergola does for a yard

A pergola gives a yard structure without closing it in. Where a roof covers the space overhead, a pergola defines it with columns and beams, leaving the sides open to the yard and offering partial shade that shifts with the sun. That open, framed feel is what makes a pergola suited to a seating area, a dining spot, or a transition between the house and the pool.

The partial shade is the point. A pergola won't block the sun the way a solid roof does, but it softens it, breaks up the light, and creates a space that feels defined without feeling enclosed. For a yard that already has shade from trees or a roof elsewhere, a pergola can be the structure that pulls the open area together.

Custom design for your home

A pergola should look like it belongs with the house, and that comes from designing it around the home rather than dropping in a standard size. The column spacing follows the seating or dining area you want to shade, the beam height relates to the house and the view, and the proportions fit the lot. We build each one to the space it's going into.

Because it's custom, a pergola can follow a patio edge, sit beside a pool, or stand out in the yard as a freestanding shade structure. It can match the home's lines or contrast them deliberately, and it can pair with other structures, an enclosure or an aluminum roof, so the outdoor area reads as one planned space. We'll plan the proportions and placement with you.

Where a pergola fits in the outdoor space

A pergola fills the gap between an open patio and a fully covered room. Over a dining table it gives just enough definition to make the area feel intentional; beside a pool it marks a seating zone without cutting it off from the yard. It's the structure you reach for when you want shade and definition but not a full roof.

That middle ground also makes a pergola a good companion to other LPG work. A roof might cover the patio where you eat, while a pergola shades the lounge area nearby; an enclosure might screen the pool while a pergola defines the space where you sit afterward. Planning them together keeps each structure doing its own job rather than overlapping.

Pergolas and shade together

How much shade a pergola gives depends on the beam spacing and any additions. Open beams give dappled shade that moves through the day; tighter spacing or a layer over the beams increases the shade. Some owners add a screen or a partial cover over a pergola to push it closer to solid shade while keeping the open sides.

We build the pergola to the shade level you want. If you want full, solid cover, an aluminum roof is usually the better fit; if you want structure and partial shade with the yard still open around it, a pergola is the right tool. We can talk through the trade-off so you get the structure that matches how you'll use the space.

Built for Florida sun and storms

A pergola in Florida lives in full sun, so the build has to hold up to it. The columns carry the beams, the connections take the wind load, and the finish has to resist UV and, near the coast, salt. We build with that exposure in mind rather than treating a pergola as decorative only.

That exposure also means a pergola benefits from occasional attention. The structure stays sound with little care, but checking the connections and keeping the surrounding surfaces clean helps it last. We can talk through what to watch for so the pergola keeps doing its job season after season.

Planning a pergola with your other outdoor work

A pergola often makes the most sense as part of a larger outdoor plan. If you're adding an enclosure over the pool, a pergola can shade the seating area beside it; if you're putting an aluminum roof over the patio, a pergola can define a separate lounge zone. Planning them together keeps the yard coherent.

We can look at the whole space when you reach out. Tell us what you want to shade, how you use the yard, and whether a pergola is the only structure or part of a larger build, and we'll plan the placement and proportions so the pieces fit. Every project is different, so we provide a custom estimate based on your home and the materials you choose.

Getting started on a pergola

A pergola project starts with the area you want to define and how much shade you want from it. Tell us about the space, whether it sits beside the house or out in the yard, and whether it's part of a larger plan with an enclosure or roof. From there we can design the structure around your home and your goals.

Because each pergola is custom, we don't quote a fixed size or price. Reach out with the basics of your space and your location, and we'll put together a design and a custom estimate for the build.

Pergolas for different parts of the yard

A pergola can serve a different purpose depending on where it sits. Attached to the house, it extends a covered area off the back door and shades the transition between indoors and the patio. Out in the yard, a freestanding pergola defines a separate seating or dining zone, giving the open space a focal point without closing it in. The placement changes the proportions, the column spacing, and how the structure ties into the rest of the outdoor area.

Some yards call for more than one. A pergola over a lounge area beside the pool, paired with a roof over the dining patio, lets each part of the yard do its own job while the structures read as one plan. We can look at the whole space when you reach out and place each structure where it earns its place, so the finished yard works as a whole rather than a set of unrelated pieces.

Pergolas are a custom LPG build — designed to frame and shade your outdoor space, with proportions and placement tailored to your home and lot.
